Yes I recall that problem from back during the development of PIDS.

Please pass them along.  I'm sure 3M would want to see them too.  I do
recall starting to modify things when I had the problem with 'cpp' until
I figured out cpp was choking on the '//* ...'.  Maybe I made other
changes and forgot about them.

Correct.  I might make a suggestion that the file be broke into two
during our LQS RTF.  Some people might have a problem with that since I
don't think re-opening modules is universally supported by ORBs.  One
way or another someone has to edit the IDL files to get what you need
and only get what you need.
