[COAS-List] Draft6 Service Specification Available

Gang,

I have been working on the COAS Service Model and IDL specification the
last couple weeks. I have created the model in UML using Rational
Rose98. I use the IDL generation capabilities in Rose98 to output IDL
files which scripts then process into one IDL file
"DSObservationAccess.idl" and multiple smaller files that are linked
into the appropriate place in the specification document. Their are
multiple class diagrams created along with the Service Model. Most of
these are linked into the specification document as well.

WARNING - This is just a draft and is subject to change substantially.
It is being put out for review only. At next week's COAS meeting in
Salt Lake City (14 -15 Dec) we will be reviewing it in detail. The
Service Model covers just one chapter in the COAS specification (the
most important for OMG standardization). The other chapters will be
getting a lot of work in the next couple weeks. There are MANY more
issues to be determined in the spec. I will try to come to the meeting
with my "laundry" list.

You can find the COAS Service Model (accessservice.mdl), specification
(accessservice.fm, accessservice.pdf) and IDL (DSObservationsAccess.idl)
at the following location. A couple of the diagrams are missing in the
pdf version for some unknown reason.

In addition the specification is available in HTML:

See you next week.
