Re: [COAS-List] COAS Submitters meeting?

Robb,

I expect no roadblock to your attendance--we have consistently encouraged
participation by all interested parties. we'll start Friday morning in
Portland and continue through Sunday mid-afternoon, pausing for rest at
times :-)

below is an old email with details. By the way, today, Monday 7 Sept., is
a U.S. holiday, so expect Tim to reply tomorrow. my phone number is at
bottom if you have further questions today. also, archives for this email
list are at http://cadse.cs.fiu.edu/omg/coas/

good luck,

The Resort at the Mountain has reserved a block of rooms for the COAS
submitters' (and contributor's) meeting in the Portland, OR area. The
two lower priced room styles are booked so they are giving us the larger
room for $115 (normally $169). Each additional adult (over 17) in a
room is $20. When you make the reservations ask for the 'Protocol
Systems' block in order to get this price. The block is reserved until
Friday 21 August. Please make your reservations early.

Since the COAS meeting is Fri-Sun 11-13 September the block is reserved
Thurs-Sat nights with half as many reserved for Sunday night. I thought
some people may want to travel to Seattle on Monday AM instead of Sunday
PM, depending on what is going on in CORBAmed on Monday (or HL7 in San
Diego).

The room style is called the Fireside Studio described as "Includes a
king bed, full-sized hide-a-bed, one bath, blow dryer, color cable
television, video player, fireplace, microwave, continental kitchen,
coffee maker, and patio or deck".

I went to the Resort over the weekend which is about 40 miles from the
airport and should take 45-60 minutes (most of the way is through the
country/forest). The Resort's atmosphere should be conducive for
creative problem solving. There are three nine hole golf courses and
the resort has a Scotish theme. They also have lawn bowling and crochet
which may make for a team activity. It is located in the middle of the
forest with mountains all around. There are hiking trails within a
short drive. The resort has an upscale resturant, and a smaller
resturant with attached pub. There are other resurants within a short
drive.

People can see about car pooling. If a number of people arrive in a
short time frame we could order a shuttle.

Cheers,

Tim Brinson
