Denver (actually Louisville, CO) (21-23 July)
------

It looks like this is shaping up to a well attended meeting. I was
talking with Chuck and Larry this morning about some ideas for the
agenda. It appears we will have people from different backgrounds and
dofferent levels of involvement with COAS. Tuesday AM will be an
important time for us to get synched up and to priortise a list of
issues and goals for the meeting. The group can determine the direction
from there.

At the Orlando meeting we proposed that some of the bigger issues are:

        Discuss extensibility mechanisms

        Determine scope of COAS

Define 'Clinical Observations' and other terms

Start integrating the various object/data models

        Understand more use scenerios

We have many smaller scale issues as well (see the initial RFP response
for a start). Please come prepared to bring up your own issues. Here
are some of the people that have said they are attending or are
interested in it:

Philips Medical - Charles Carman, Larry Hamel
HBOC - Mary Richards, Peter Bohne (? Ted Klein - HL7 RIM)
3M HIS - Tom Culpepper and/or Harold Solbrig
	Protocol - Tim Brinson
	Care Flow|Net - Juggy
	Sunquest - David Foard
Care Data Systems - Jon Farmer
	DICOM - Dean Bidgood
DoD Health Affairs - Csaba Egyhazy
	Los Alamos - David Forslund
	Merge Technologies - Jim Cominsky
Baptist of South Florida - Kent Wreder, Vidya Bha
	IDX - (?Abdul-Malik Shakir - HL7 RIM)

Other people are welcome to participate too - see attached directions.
I have left messages for Ted and Abdul-Malik but we have not gotten
connected yet. Mary Richards and Howard Chase were also going to try
and contact them. I know Mary Kratz sent them an email.

Helsinki (27, 30 July)
--------

I just received information that Cheryl B. at the OMG is scheduling
rooms for the Helsinki meeting of COAS submitters/contributors on Monday
and Thursday (9:00-5:00). I asked for a room of 20.

On Monday 27 July we hope to cover any European efforts with the people
directly involved. Besides the other COAS submitters/contributors
attending CORBAmed we have invitations to representatives from the
following projects.

	COSMOS - Doug Simmonds
	UK NHS - Peter Nicklin
	STAR - Paul Cooper
	GEHR - ?Richard Dixon
	Synapses - ?Damon Berry
CEN TC 251 WG IV - ?Nicholas Brown

On Thursday 30 July we plan working up proposals for the COAS component
and interfaces, combining the things we have learned/agreed on during
the last two weeks. I expect this to be a small group but contributors
are still welcome to participate.

Regards,

Tim
